Four Premier League clubs ‘interested’ in Liverpool move
Several Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool defender Joe Gomez before the transfer window closes.
The England international’s future remains uncertain after being left out of the squad for the opening Premier League game by new manager Arne Slott.
Jalel Quansah was selected at centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk for Saturday’s game against Ipswich Town at Portman Road, with centre-back Ibrahim Konate on the bench.
According to The Times, Gomez is considering his future at Anfield as he “explores his options” with less than two weeks to go until the transfer deadline.
Aston Villa, Chelsea, Fulham and Newcastle United are reportedly in the running for the 27-year-old, with overseas clubs also showing interest, with Bayern Munich being named as a possible destination following Matthijs de Ligt’s move to Manchester United.
However, it has also been said there is “no guarantee” Gomez will leave Liverpool before the end of the month, with his exclusion being the result of “adult discussions” with the club and the club not trying to “force” him to leave.
Having been primarily used as a utility player in the backline and midfield during his nine years at Liverpool, the former Charlton Athletic man is “considering” his future.
If no transfer is completed by the transfer window closes on Friday 30 August, Gomez will ‘return’ to the first team.
