PERTH, Australia – Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya weighed in for the main event of UFC 305, setting the stage for one of the biggest middleweight title fights in recent memory.
The highly anticipated showdown between du Plessis (21-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and Adesanya (24-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) moved one step closer to reality after both fighters reached the weight class limit at the official weigh-in at the UFC hotel on Friday.
Du Plessis, the current champion who will be making his first defense after winning the belt from Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in January, weighed in at 185 pounds when he stepped on the scales, while former two-time champion Adesanya, seeking to become a historic third champion in the weight class, weighed in at 184 pounds.
