According to well-known Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito (provided by Sky Sports), AS Roma and Daniele De Rossi are keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso as a replacement for the outgoing Paulo Dybala.
Several reports have suggested Paulo Dybala is heading to newly promoted Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiya this summer, and now new reports have emerged linking Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso as his potential replacement.
The midfielder is not part of manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans and is “free to leave the club” with just a few weeks left in the summer transfer window, so was left out of the squad for last weekend’s game against Bayern Munich.
Lo Celso has recently been linked with moves to Real Betis and Aston Villa, as well as a possible reunion with former Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho at Turkish club Fenerbahce.
With the likes of Emerson Royal and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg out, attention has now turned to moves for Lo Celso and Reguilon, both of whom have just one year left on their contracts with Tottenham Hotspur, with this window seen as the final opportunity to secure even the most modest of transfer fees for either player.
As reported by El Chiringuito , Spurs are asking for around 15 million euros to sell Giovani Lo Celso, a good amount for an unwanted player with only one year left on his contract, but the club may not be willing to pay that amount for that very reason.
Spurs will be aware that Roma would command a significant fee for Dybala given that the reported deal is with the Saudi Pro League club and will not want to be offered a low fee by the Italian club.
Interestingly, in 2019 Spurs brought in Lo Celso as a replacement for Dybala after the latter’s move fell through at the last minute, and now five years later he could be replacing Dybala – a full-circle win indeed.
