Freshman wide receiver Cam Coleman has caught the attention of several college football experts, including Paul Myerberg of USA Today Sports.
Myerberg recently released his selections for 10 college football freshmen ready to make an immediate impact this season, including Auburn University’s top 2024 signees: Myerberg said Coleman’s impressive performance on A-Day should carry over into his freshman season.
Coleman is one of two five-star freshman receivers competing in this year’s Iron Bowl, along with Alabama’s Ryan Williams. Williams wasn’t an early enrollee, though, making him a wild card and making it harder to predict whether he’ll contribute for new coach Cullen DeBoer. Coleman could change the complexion of Auburn’s receiver corps as a freshman and would certainly provide a spark to a passing game that was awful a year ago.
This is the second “impact freshman” list Coleman has recently been added to. Earlier this week, ESPN named the Phenix City native one of the top recruits in the SEC. Mark Schlabach and Chris Law have joined Myerberg in predicting Coleman to make an impact on Auburn’s offense this season.
Coleman enters his freshman season at Auburn as the nation’s No. 4 overall recruit and No. 2 wide receiver in the class of 2024. He, along with fellow freshman receivers Perry Thompson, Bryce Cain and Malcolm Simmons, are scheduled to make their debut when the Tigers host Alabama A&M in the season opener on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
