EXCLUSIVE: Good Deed Entertainment has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Advanced Chemistry, a romantic comedy starring Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death), Shaunte Wayans (Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready), Sara Burns (Barry), Kiran Deol (Sunnyside), Iqbal Theba (Glee) and Tukeya Crystal Kima (That’s So Raven).
Good Deed Entertainment is set to release the film in theatres from September 3, 2024 and on digital platforms from October 8.
The film is directed by Etana Jacobson in her feature directorial debut, with Alec Moore, Jane Miller, Sarah Burns and Jacobson serving as producers, with Moore also writing the script. The film is executive produced by Buffalo 8’s Luke Taylor and Matthew Helderman. Pic tells the story of a scientist (Schuette) who injects his best friend (Wayans) with a compound he created to stop him cheating on his wife (Burns). However, feeling suffocated by his new obsession, the wife gets the injection herself, but it backfires and she falls for the scientist.
Advanced Chemistry premiered at the Dances With Films NY Festival earlier this year. The deal was brokered by Erik Donley on behalf of Good Deed Entertainment and Glen Reynolds of Circus Road on behalf of the filmmakers.
“Advanced Chemistry is a riotous romantic comedy that asks what would happen if A Midsummer Night’s Dream were driven by science. It’s a story where truth is stranger than fiction,” Jacobson said.
Moore added: “The success of Oppenheimer proves that audiences are interested in stories about scientists, and our film is even more entertaining than Oppenheimer.”
