With the support of USAID, Dapol, the Polish importer for the Bronische market, has begun cooperation with fruit growers in the Republic of Moldova. Starting with a few truckloads of table grapes in 2022, Dapol imported more than 700 tons of plums and grapes from Moldova in 2023.
USAID’s Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Initiative organized a mission to Dapol this month, where company representatives visited the orchards of our country’s fruit growers, after which the importer announced that it plans to double its purchases of plums and grapes this season.
According to Moldpres, requirements for imported products include proper packaging, certification in accordance with EU requirements and high quality standards.

USAID maintains that it will continue to support Moldovan fruit growers to help improve quality and expand export areas.
Fruits from Moldova are popular for their quality and special taste, which is increasing their demand in the European Union market. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, “while in 2021 about 75 tons of cherries were exported, in 2023 the figure will reach 2,600 tons. As for apples, about 1,000 tons were delivered to the EU in 2021, and in 2023 producers exported about 11,000 tons. At the same time, plum exports increased almost twice on the EU market (from 27,000 tons in 2021 to 55,000 tons in 2023). Grape exports also increased significantly, allowing wine producers to export about 25,000 tons from 17,000 tons in 2021.” The Republic of Moldova’s position on the European market was also strengthened due to the EU’s decision to suspend taxes and import quotas applicable to products exported from the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
