BTS was once asked by fans to become the CEO of Twitter (now X), and Elon Musk even commented on it. This mega K-Pop group formed with seven members has reached many new heights. They continue to rewrite K-Pop history with various ventures outside of music. Now, let’s take a look back at when the seven were on the verge of becoming the CEOs of Twitter.
Before Twitter X, Elon Musk was recruiting CEO partners on the microblogging platform. He was open-minded and often responded to user recommendations. Around this time in 2022, a fan made a great suggestion for the businessman. He posted, tagging Elon Musk, “I think BTS should be co-CEOs of Twitter.”
The post quickly gained attention, with Elon Musk himself responding, “That’s a great idea.” Whether he was serious about it or just having a harmless joke with his fans, the post still leaves a mark on the massive influence BTS has around the world.
It seems leader RM also had something to say about this: He found the idea so interesting that he took a screenshot of the exchange and shared it on his Instagram story, posting a laughing emoji next to it, indicating that he was open to discussing the position.
However, this isn’t the first time Elon Musk has admitted to his love for BTS, having previously said in an interview that he would like to buy the group due to its rapid rise in popularity – a comment that many took as an insult to the seven-piece band, sparking a furious backlash from fans.
Needless to say, if BTS were the CEO of Twitter, X would be facing the wrath of ARMYs right now.
On the work front, six of the seven members of BTS have now completed their mandatory military service, with the eldest, Jin, completing 18 months of military service and being discharged on June 7, 2024. Next up to return will be J-Hope.
The remaining members, Suga, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, will be discharged by June 2025, when BTS will resume activities. Meanwhile, the seven members are also actively pursuing solo careers and releasing new songs from time to time.
