West Ham have signed Guido Rodriguez as a defensive midfielder alongside Edson Alvarez, so Tomas Soucek is expected to be second-choice behind Rodriguez as a defensive midfielder this season. Like Soucek, James Ward-Prowse also struggled in pre-season games against Wolves and Crystal Palace.
That’s why West Ham are keen to add a creative box-to-box midfielder to their roster this transfer window, and according to GIVEMESPORT they are targeting Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler.
Manager Julen Lopetegui has been a huge admirer of the 27-year-old during his time at La Liga, with Soler making 226 appearances for Valencia, scoring 36 goals and winning the Copa del Rey in 2019. Since moving from Valencia to Paris Saint-Germain for £18m in 2022, Soler has made 63 appearances for the club and won the French league twice.
However, with Paris Saint-Germain signing Joao Neves and already featuring stars such as Vitinha and Warren Zaire Emery in midfield, Soler’s minutes are likely to be reduced next season, which is why the box-to-box midfielder may be keen to move to West Ham this summer.
But West Ham are not the only club interested in Soler, with La Liga side Real Sociedad and Premier League outfit Brighton also keeping an eye on the situation, and Soler’s desire for more playing time next season could be a factor in deciding his ultimate destination.

West Ham’s move to acquire Soler is a calculated move to bolster their midfield options. The 27-year-old could partner Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez to create a formidable Hammers midfield. As the summer transfer window progresses, West Ham will be monitoring the situation closely, hoping to close a deal that could significantly strengthen their squad for next season.
