Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds have dominated the box office as rumors of inter-cast drama swirled around the actress’ film.
“It Ends With Us,” starring Lively, hit the box office after Reynolds’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” on August 9. The highly anticipated film is based on the popular novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover.
Reynolds’ Marvel Studios blockbuster “Deadpool & Wolverine” was the top movie in North American theaters for the third straight week with ticket sales of $54.2 million, according to studio estimates on Sunday. It has now topped $1 billion worldwide. Following “Deadpool & Wolverine” closely was “It Ends With Us,” a romantic drama starring Lively, which debuted with a better-than-expected $50 million.

It’s the first time in 34 years that a husband-wife duo has topped the box office, and the last time audiences enjoyed such a moment was in 1990, when Bruce Willis’ “Die Hard 2” and Demi Moore’s “Ghost” took the top two spots.
While It Ends With Us was a huge hit at the box office, the promotional tour sparked speculation about potential drama between Lively, Reynolds and the film’s director and star, Justin Baldoni.
Fans took to TikTok and other social media platforms to share theories about the press tour’s oddities. Representatives for neither Lively nor Baldoni responded to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

Baldoni did the majority of the press tour on his own, despite starring alongside Lively, which many found odd, but the “Jane the Virgin” star spent his time praising Lively.
“It’s impossible to sum up Blake’s contribution in one sentence, because her energy and her impact is on full display throughout the film and she really made it a great movie from start to finish,” he told Today.
He also mentioned Livly’s name when asked who he thought should direct the sequel instead of him.
“I think there’s someone better suited for this,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That’s my opinion.”
However, Lively never seemed to mention Baldoni in any of the interviews.

Additionally, Baldoni and Lively did not take any photos together at the film’s premiere – typically the entire cast takes photos together, with the stars playing their love interests also posing for a few shots.
Baldoni posed mostly alone, with a few shots featuring family and friends, while Lively was photographed with Reynolds and several other cast members, including Brandon Sklener, Isabella Ferrer and Jenny Slate.

The speculation didn’t stop there.
Fans also noticed that while Baldoni follows Lively and Slate on Instagram, the two female cast members do not follow the director.
Slate’s interview with Deadline left fans wondering if she was criticizing Baldoni’s multiple roles in the film’s production.
“I mean, it’s really hard work to do a lot of things,” she told the outlet when asked about Baldoni’s It Ends With Us. “I was like, ‘Wow, I really just want to do one thing at a time.'”
“I was looking around like, ‘Yeah, I just want to act,'” Slate added. “Seriously, I love acting. I just want to do it.”

Fans were surprised to learn that Reynolds actually worked on the film, even rewriting at least one scene.
“That famous rooftop scene was actually written by my husband,” Lively revealed to E! News at the premiere on August 6. “Nobody knows that right now except you.”
Reynolds may actually have been heavily involved in the production of “It Ends With Us,” along with Lively’s other projects.
“We support each other. He supports me in everything I do and I support him in everything he does,” she added. “So his victories, his blessings are mine and mine are his.”
