The Hollywood Reporter announced Tuesday that Liz Curry has been appointed vice president of entertainment sales and head of special projects.
In her new role, Curry will be responsible for partnering with advertisers to create custom, integrated marketing solutions across THR’s platforms. She will focus on FYC awards opportunities, podcasts, experiential events and other special projects. Curry will be based in Los Angeles and report to THR’s senior vice president Lori O’Connor and president Joe Shields.
Curry’s career spans more than 12 years in entertainment and media. Prior to joining THR, she served as Executive Director of FYC and Entertainment Sales at Condé Nast, where she developed advertising and partnership strategies for major studios leveraging Condé Nast’s prestigious events, including the Met Gala, Vogue World and the New Yorker Festival. She is also credited with enhancing Vanity Fair’s FYC experiential offerings in ways that resonated with both viewers and advertisers, most notably bringing the awards podcast “Little Gold Men” to a live audience.
“Liz brings a dynamic creative energy to the THR team,” said Shields. “Her thoughtful approach to developing partnership solutions for our entertainment industry clients perfectly embodies THR’s new collaborative and innovative culture, especially as we continue to invest in our FYC Awards coverage.”
Curry began his career as a producer, creating bespoke digital-first series and concert events featuring leading musical and theatre artists for big name companies such as Myspace, PopSugar, YouTube, the NBA and X Games. Prior to his time at Condé Nast, Curry was a Senior Sales Executive at Bustle Digital Group, where he designed content and experiential advertising campaigns for major brands such as Genesis, Lexus and The CW.
“THR continues to drive digital and social growth to rival its competitors, which has attracted Liz and other soon-to-be-announced top talent,” Shields said. “Our editorial strategy with an emphasis on video and social content is paying off tremendously in this market.”
“I’m thrilled to join the Hollywood Reporter team,” said Curry. “THR is truly the heartbeat of our industry, and the possibilities for reaching new entertainment-loving audiences are endless.”
Curry remains active in the industry as a board member of LPAC, a member of the Soho House committee, and host of an entertainment podcast.
News of Curry’s hiring comes on the heels of The Hollywood Reporter’s big run at last month’s Southern California Journalism Awards, where it won a total of 11 first-place awards, including Best Website and Print Journalist of the Year for Rebecca Keegan.
