X/The Twitter account “White Dudes for Harris” was unsuspended following an outcry on social media.
White Dudes for Harris is a campaign support group for white men raising funds to support Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign ahead of the 2024 US presidential election.
The @dudes4harris account appears to have been suspended on July 29th after raising more than $4 million in its first digital fundraising event.
Reports said Jeff Bridges, Mark Hamill, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bradley Whitford, Sean Astin and Josh Groban were in attendance.
Responding to the accounts appearing to have been suspended, the group’s organizer, Los Morales Rocket, said they “scared Elon Musk.”
Musk has been a long-time supporter of Republican candidate Donald Trump and previously endorsed him on X/Twitter.
A backup account was then created called @dudesforharris.
After the original account was suspended, there was an outcry on social media about election interference on the platform.
However, following protests and criticism, the account appears to have been unsuspended.
It is not yet officially known why the account was suspended and then reinstated.
The @dudesforharris tweets have since been protected since the original account was reinstated.
A clip posted by Tennessee Horror on X/Twitter shared what Bridges said during his speech.
“I accepted the invitation and I was brought to the party, not because I’m white, and yes I am, but I’m eligible because I’m a man, a man,” he said.
“I’m white, I’m a man, and I support Harris!”
“I’m excited. I can see herself becoming president, given the fact that Joe has passed the baton so beautifully. I’m very excited.”
“It’s amazing to have a female president!”
“You know, she’s a champion for women’s rights, she’s a champion for environmental issues and her stance on caring for children. Her leadership in that regard is fantastic and something I can support.”
