According to Sky, Youssoufa Moukoko (19) is likely to leave the youth club this summer due to a lack of playing time at Borussia Dortmund, with a number of suitors including newly promoted Premier League side Southampton FC and Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais on the list.
Moukoko has long been touted as one of Europe’s hottest prospects but has yet to live up to the hype. The Germany U21 striker has failed to rise up Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic’s pecking order despite solid performances when given the chance. Last season, Moukoko made 27 appearances in all competitions, starting just five of them but still managed to score five goals. The Yaoundé-born centre-forward will reportedly begin negotiations with Dortmund to agree terms for a move that could be on loan or permanently.
According to Sky Germany, Moukoko has a number of suitors, including Spanish clubs Girona, Real Betis and Real Sociedad. The paper adds that the left-footed striker is attracting interest from across Europe, with Southampton and Rennes also in the race to sign him. With his current contract due to expire in 2026, the Germany Under-21 international is looking for a club where he can play a key role. Newly promoted Bundesliga side St Pauli, who saw Moukoko play at youth level a few years ago, are also in the running for the Dortmund striker, but Sky understands that Moukoko would prefer a move abroad.
