Clashes between Tamil and Telugu film fans have become a long-standing tradition in the South Indian Twitter space, with the issue stemming from arguments between Thalapathy Vijay fans and Pawan Kalyan fans or Mahesh Babu fans.
The fight has begun again as Vijay’s fans and a section of Tamil fans have slammed Pawan Kalyan’s Khushi. They say that Vijay’s acting in Khushi is far better than Pawan’s.

The battle has now reached a point where standards of Telugu and Tamil cinema are being debated, with Telugu film fans arguing that “thambhal” (a derogatory term for the thambhal culture of Tamil Nadu) fans are trapped in the films’ repressed narratives, which have no chance of being commercially successful.
It is important to note here that Telugu films far outstrip Tamil films in terms of market share. The Telugu film industry has three films with box office grosses of over Rs 100 crore – Baahubali 2, Kalki and RRR. It also has a rival in the form of Pushpa 2.

While Tamil films struggle to reach Rs 500 crore at the box office, Telugu films are way ahead. The market and reach speaks for itself. The phenomenal recognition at the global box office has put Telugu films way ahead of Tamil films and this should pretty much end the debate. There is no point in prolonging this.
