Swae Lee, best known as one half of the rap duo Rae Sremmurd, attempted to voice his opinion about Vice President Kamala Harris over the weekend but was quickly reprimanded.

In a bizarre post, he urged his followers not to vote for the leading Democratic candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
“DO NOT VOTE FOR KAMALA!!! INVESTIGATE THAT ENTIRE CAMPAIGN,” Lee declared on X-Saturday. He also criticized the Biden-Harris administration for sending millions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.
“I pay millions of dollars in taxes every year and this guy sends it to a whole other country!!!!!!!!! The little bit that gets taken out of your check he gives to everyone!!!!!!! Think about that,” he said. Lee also said, “Voting for her just because you think she’s black doesn’t do you any favors in the end.”
Of course, the backlash against Lee was swift, with user @DeePhunk retweeting one of his older tweets against the “Black Beatles” emcee, explaining: “Please don’t get your political or socio-economic news, views or opinions from rappers. Please.”
@colorfullstory, another X personality, fired back at Lee’s rant, writing, “Once Swae Lee can name the three branches of government and their functions, I’ll listen to him about his research. In fact, he loves research, so tell him to provide citations in APA format.”
Another user, @Chiefkeith94, said Swae Lee “hasn’t done anything since 2012 and now all of a sudden he’s trying to give political advice.” Others criticized Lee for choosing to attack Harris at a time when President Trump recently revealed plans to grant “immunity from prosecution” to law enforcement, which would become an even more deadly reality for Black Americans, especially in light of the murder of Sonia Massey at the hands of former Illinois Deputy Sheriff Shawn Grayson.
Despite the criticism over his tweets, Lee has continued to tweet on the app and expects to share more of his political views as November approaches.
