The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is over. Normally, fans would be jumping for joy and waiting to see what happens. The opening ceremony is the only opportunity for each country to truly embrace their traditions and history and to champion their country’s honor through sports. However, this year’s opening ceremony left fans more than a little shaken up.
Recently, the official X (formerly Twitter) account uploaded a video highlighting key moments from the opening ceremony, including the flotilla on the river, performances by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, and various examples of Parisian culture. The caption of the post asks, “What was your favorite moment?”
It’s safe to say that not everyone will walk away satisfied after watching the opening ceremony. So bad, in fact, that the official Olympic accounts are doing their best to hide certain replies so as not to tarnish the public’s perception, most of which appear to have stemmed from Christian viewers outraged by certain visual references or unusual costume inadequacies. One person wrote as calmly as possible amid a sea of fierce NSFW comments: “It’s a shame the Olympics have fallen to this point. This rubbish should not be shown to the millions of children who will be watching the ceremony. We don’t need this crap!!!”

And the private replies are full of harsh words, with some not even hiding their feelings: “The best part was when I changed the channel and no longer saw the Satanic, anti-Christian, anti-women ritual that endangered children and exposed their nakedness for the whole world to see,” they say.
However, a few people did find something a little positive about the opening ceremony. This user, while still unhappy, was pleased with other aspects of the event: “Many parts of the opening ceremony were disappointing, but the athletes, the excitement and the laser show were amazing,” they wrote.
