The video was shot with a Sony VX2000 and a teleconverter and shows the immediate aftermath of the planes hitting the Twin Towers in New York and ultimately causing both buildings to collapse.
A man has released what is likely never-before-seen video of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the Internet, making it the first time it has been released in nearly two decades.
Uploaded to YouTube on July 23rd by Kei Sugimoto, the video comes just shy of the 23rd anniversary of the horrific incident in New York. Sugimoto claims to have captured the horrific scene from the rooftop of 64 St. Marks Place using a Sony VX2000 with a teleconverter, and some believe it offers a whole new perspective.
The recording begins after the impact, showing the Twin Towers engulfed in smoke and flames and the howls of astonished spectators. About 45 seconds into the six-minute footage, the North Tower collapses, shocking the audience. Five minutes later, the South Tower also collapses, sending up a storm of smoke, dust and debris.

Sugimoto’s footage is extended for an additional 30 seconds, revealing the devastation as thick smoke rises. Since being released, the video has gone viral, racking up over 630,000 views on YouTube in four days and also spreading on X, with viewers saying it may be a “unique perspective” on the disaster.
“This footage offers a unique perspective not seen from the south or east. This is the first time we’ve seen it from this angle,” X wrote in the comments. Reddit users have also chimed in on the topic, with one user commenting, “I can’t believe it’s been almost 23 years and new footage is still coming out.”
The September 11 attacks were four simultaneous suicide bombings carried out by Islamic extremists from Al Qaeda that killed a staggering 2,977 people and made them the deadliest terrorist attacks in human history. The first attack took place on the North Tower at 8:46 AM, followed by the South Tower at 9:03 AM, with both towers collapsing within one hour and 41 minutes.
At 9:37 a.m., another plane targeted the Pentagon and partially disintegrated. The final plane crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 10:03 a.m. after the heroic actions of passengers confronted the hijackers and thwarted a plot to attack Washington, DC.
