The chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council said in a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the new policies being developed include “Cloud Computing and Data Security,” “Internet of Things Security” and “Cybersecurity Operations Center.” He said the implementing regulations of the “Encryption” law, which will set out key standards for the security of data transmission in line with quantum systems, are expected to be issued by the end of 2024.
He added that the UAE has the capacity and resources to become a global data hub, which is driving it to enact laws and policies that will help regulate this strategic sector and forge regional and international partnerships with the public and private sectors.
Dr Al Kuwait said that with the rapid development of advanced technologies and AI, the UAE serves as an inspiring model for many countries around the world as they seek to develop cybersecurity systems, especially in the data sector.
The Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council explained that the digital transformation in the UAE encompasses all sectors, such as healthcare, energy, education, aviation and other strategic sectors, increasing the need for advanced cybersecurity systems to protect cyberspace from potential attacks, especially in light of evolving AI solutions used by various organizations to conduct general surveys to identify digital vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure in vital sectors.
He explained that this highlights the importance of protecting these institutions from threats and breaches that could lead to data leaks, identity theft, intellectual property rights violations, and compromise of key infrastructure and security digital records.
Dr. Al Kuwaiti stressed that the UAE is facing malicious cyber attacks targeting strategic sectors, especially the financial sector, in order to threaten national security or blackmail individuals or countries to obtain financial information for illicit gains. He assured that the UAE’s cybersecurity systems continue to repel and thwart such attacks, identify hackers and deal with them in accordance with the highest international standards.
