The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is making travel easier for tourists with a new initiative by the Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP). As part of a transformation project, the innovative initiative aims to provide greater convenience and peace of mind to visitors by offering health insurance directly in conjunction with the UAE tourist visa.
The move will support the UAE’s tourism and healthcare sectors and further strengthen the country’s position as a leading travel destination. Plans are underway to automate the health insurance process for UAE travel visas through an electronic platform, which will streamline pricing across all major insurers in the UAE.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khairi, Director General of ICP, explained the benefits of the project: “This project will enable tourists to obtain health insurance electronically while applying for their visa through our service system. The electronic platform will manage the issuance and pricing of health insurance packages from all major insurance companies in the UAE. This will simplify the process for tourists, allowing them to choose the right health insurance for their UAE travel visa while applying for their visa online through the ICP app or official website.
In line with the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision, the UAE’s transformation projects are envisaged as qualitative initiatives that will impact relevant sectors in a short period of time.
The UAE is already a major tourist destination, offering visitors a wide range of attractions. From Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, Miracle Garden and Mall of the Emirates to Abu Dhabi’s Ferrari World, Qasr Al Hosn Fort and SeaWorld Yas Island, there is something for everyone. Tourism in the UAE also includes numerous beaches, casinos, monuments, adventure activities and cultural wonders in major cities such as Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ain and Fujairah.
