Social media is abuzz right now, with critics’ first impressions of Deadpool & Wolverine being mostly positive. However, DC is also releasing a big sequel in a few months called Joker: Folie à Deux, which is sure to generate just as much excitement and buzz. A new trailer has been released and comic book fans are clearly overjoyed right now. The latest teaser for the sequel to the Oscar-winning Joker is also drawing praise.
The new trailer for Joker 2 shows the crazy love story between Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) and Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga) as well as the chaos engulfing Gotham. It’s clear that many see the Joker as a hero who sparked a revolution against the elite class, as seen in the first film. Audiences are astonished by the sequel’s breathtaking beauty. On Twitter, @dontcaIImyname wrote, “The yellow/blue/red color palette of the movie Joker 2 is [‘Joker: Folie à Deux’] The cinematographer for Joker 2 is Lawrence Sher, who also served as cinematographer on the first film and has already garnered much praise for his work.
Matt Neglia even predicted, “I’m starting to think this might win Best Cinematography.” It’s not just the visuals that have wowed the internet. A lot of people loved this trailer. So it’s safe to say that Joker: Folie à Deux will be the DC movie that surprises everyone.
Fans say Lady Gaga will play the “mother” in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’
Joker: Folie à Deux’s unique visuals are certainly a joy to look at compared to the typically drab palette of many other big comic book movies, but that’s not the only thing that’s garnering attention from fans: For many, the main reason to go to the theater to see Joker 2 seems to be to witness Lady Gaga’s majesty as a new version of Harley Quinn.
You could even say that the latest trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux is a “star is born,” because so many people who have seen it can’t stop talking about Lady Gaga. X-user @bluelanternc simply answers, “YES MOTHER YES.” At a key moment in the trailer, Joker and Harley host a talk show (it remains to be seen whether this is real or some kind of delusion). Harley tells Joker, “Let’s give the people what they want,” and @Lulumaybelle points out, “This is a Joker moment in the movie.” [‘Joker: Folie à Deux’] I saw the trailer and I felt like the energy was coming. That little smile she gives right after she says her line. It’s perfect.
Additionally, the trailer shows great attention to detail, with @CS11__ commenting, ” [parallels] There, the trailer juxtaposes the elevator doors closing on the Joker in the first film with a similar scene, but this time it’s Harley Quinn doing the closing. Joker: For Dew could be more than just a great comic book adaptation; it could be a strong awards contender. And fans can get to see Lady Gaga, who plays Harley Quinn, play a mother figure on screen when Joker: For Dew hits theaters on October 4.
