Cosm is the first addition in Centennial Yards’ next development phase, which will add approximately 470,000 square feet of entertainment, retail and restaurant space, as well as a flagship hotel, to downtown Atlanta. The entertainment district will be built on 7.5 acres adjacent to the Atlanta Hawks’ State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as well as the Five Points MARTA station, which developers say will connect “to the rest of the city.” (Image courtesy of CIM Group/Centennial Yards)
An immersive entertainment venue that will be the anchor of Centennial Yards’ new sports and entertainment district is opening in downtown Atlanta.
Centennial Yards Company announced July 22 that it had signed a long-term lease with Los Angeles-based digital technology company Cosm to build a 70,000-square-foot, three-story venue adjacent to State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The venue will feature an 87-foot diameter, 12K resolution LED dome and will “deliver live sports and immersive entertainment in shared reality,” according to a news release.
“The Cosm experience is one of a kind, using shared reality technology to give guests front-row access to a global event from downtown Atlanta in Centennial Yards,” Centennial Yards president Brian McGowan said in a news release.
“With the addition of Cosm to our existing world-class sports venues, we believe Centennial Yards will become the entertainment hub of Atlanta, bringing together people of all ages with a fantastic combination of sporting events, music, bars, restaurants and retail,” McGowan said.
Centennial Yards Company is an affiliate of CIM Group, the developer behind the $5 billion transformation of the site formerly known as “The Gulch” into a massive 50-acre mixed-use development. Centennial Yards is currently building a 19-story boutique hotel and a 19-story apartment building, both of which are scheduled to open in 2025.
