Metallica is calling on all fans to speak up for the cause.
The heavy metal band will play an acoustic and electric set at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood on Friday, December 13. The lineup for the charity concert and auction has yet to be announced, but a press release from the group confirmed that actor Robert Downey Jr., pro skater Tony Hawk and musician St. Vincent will also be appearing.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26th at Ticketmaster.com. All proceeds will benefit the All Within My Hands Foundation.
Founded in 2017, the organization has raised more than $15 million and provided $8.2 million in grants for career and technical education programs, including the Metallica Scholars Initiative, now in its sixth year, and donated more than $3.6 million to fight food insecurity and $3.5 million to disaster relief efforts.
Metallica, one of the big four pioneers of thrash metal, played two shows at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium last August, looking back at the band’s beginnings in Southern California. Lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and band co-founder James Hetfield told the crowd that he drew the iconic logo on a napkin in Norwalk. The band left Los Angeles in the early ’80s, when glam metal bands were all over the place. Metallica relocated to the Bay Area, where they’ve spent most of the past four decades.
The Grammy Award-winning band, known for hits such as “Ride the Lightning,” “Enter Sandman” and “Master of Puppets,” also performed at Power Trip Festival in Indio last October alongside AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Tool.
