The attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, which left two people, including a child, dead, will not stop relief efforts for displaced Palestinians.
The aid is being sent as part of the UAE’s Operation Gallant Knight 3, which was launched in November.
State news agency Wam reported on Monday that the project has provided more than 13,000 tents to displaced families.
“Operation Gallant Knight 3 provided shelter tents to displaced residents of Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip to support families whose tents were burned and destroyed in recent bombardments,” WAM reported.
“The UAE continues its efforts to provide shelter materials to affected people.
“Operation Gallant Knight 3 volunteers quickly prepared evacuation tents for displaced families in the central Gaza Strip who had lost their previous tents due to the evacuation.
“This emergency humanitarian assistance is aimed at helping families suffering from repeated displacement and difficult and dire conditions.”
Getting aid to those in need is a major challenge, and Israel has come under criticism for refusing supplies such as tent poles, saying they could provide “dual use” benefits to Hamas.
Number of aids
On Saturday, it was announced that a total of 1,000 trucks carrying humanitarian aid from the UAE had entered the Gaza Strip from Egypt via the Rafah border crossing since November, also as part of Operation Gallant Knight 3.
The trucks were part of 100 aid convoys that have delivered more than 20,000 tonnes of emergency supplies since the UAE began its aid efforts.
The UAE has also set up 12 warehouses at a logistics base in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish, stocking tonnes of essential aid items including diapers, blankets, canned food, flour, rice and medicines.
Supply warehouses are loaded with vital supplies as a direct result of the kindness and generosity of the UAE people since the outbreak of the war.
In October, thousands of volunteers gathered across the UAE to pack relief items for the Palestinian people as part of the “Compassion for Gaza” campaign.
Under Operation Gallant Knight 3, the UAE has also launched a number of projects to help those in need, including a field hospital and a floating hospital in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in June, the UAE has delivered 33,100 tonnes of emergency supplies to the Gaza Strip since November.
The UAE has also installed five automated bread factories and six desalination plants that will produce 1.2 million gallons of clean water daily for 600,000 people in the Gaza Strip.
At least 3,380 tonnes of aid have also been sent through relief drops to isolated areas of Gaza.
