(St. Joseph, MO) The St. Joseph Kennel Club Dog Show is back, with dog breeds of all shapes and sizes competing.
The show previously took place in February but is now held in July, and volunteers say attendance has increased.
One participant, Dennis Agre Gil from Colombia, said the weekend not only provided entertainment but also education on different types of dogs.
“Please come and observe, choose your favourite breed and ask the staff if you can touch them more and get to know the dogs a little better,” Agre-Gill said. “If you ask first, the staff will be happy to help you get to know the dogs better.”
Dale Hunsberger, a longtime board member of the St. Joseph Kennel Club, recognizes the economic value such shows bring to downtown St. Joseph.
“One is that people don’t realize how much revenue these dog shows bring to the restaurants and events we’re involved in,” Hunsberger said. “We love doing the shows on Sundays, usually because of churches, and the place is packed because people come to see all the different types of dogs that they don’t get a chance to see anywhere else.”
Dog lovers of all kinds can attend the event on the second day, July 21, from 8am to 5pm. For the latest event updates and all that’s on show, click here
