TheGunBlog.ca — YouTube.com has removed all videos published in the past month by hickok45, one of the site’s top firearms channels, and may remove 95 percent of its remaining content under new gun control policies, the channel announced.
“Bad News” Video
Channel host Hickok45 and his son John shared the information yesterday in a video titled “Bad News.”
The expanded gun control policy, which took effect June 18, bans content sponsored by firearms or firearms companies, Son said.
“So we’re running the risk of losing everything and having to pretty much start from scratch,” John said.
context
TheGunBlog.ca could not find any new rules in YouTube’s anti-firearms policies or Google Inc.’s advertising policies. YouTube is owned by Google. Hickok45’s stats page shows 7.74 million subscribers, 2,764 videos, and 2.3 billion views since launching in January 2007. Many of the world’s largest media and technology companies actively suppress and censor firearms users and businesses: Amazon.com, Facebook.com, Google Inc., Instagram, YouTube, etc. (TheGunBlog.ca avoids these services whenever possible.)

Some of you may have seen that YouTube changed their policy on gun videos on June 18th, but as my dad said, I didn’t realize how much it would affect us until I spoke with a Google representative very recently.
You may have noticed that videos posted after June 18th have been removed.
The reason for this is basically the new policy that pertains to this video, and the issue at stake here is that any sponsorship from a firearms company or a company that deals in firearms accessories is a total violation of YouTube’s policies.
And any sponsored videos posted after June 18th will be subject to full channel termination — a warning and suspension — while videos posted before that will be subject to termination of the video itself.
So before June 18th, the video itself was at risk. After June 18th, the entire channel is at risk.
You know, we’ve had these sponsorships pretty much the entire time we’ve been doing this, so that’s probably 95% of our content.
This means we run the risk of losing everything and having to start almost from scratch.
