Foot Mercato reports that Bayern Munich have not given up on the signing of AS Monaco’s Breel Embolo (27), with the German giants seeking to strengthen their attacking line following the departure of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (35) this summer.
Rumours were rife throughout the Euros that Bayern were interested in Embolo, due in part to the Swiss striker’s performances during the tournament: Embolo scored two goals in five games as Switzerland reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated on penalties by eventual finalist England.
During the tournament, Embolo spoke to Sky Sports about his link with Bayern, saying: “I hope you understand that out of respect for the club and for Bayern I can’t say anything. Of course it’s a great club.” […] But I haven’t thought about that and I can’t and won’t comment on it.” But when pressed on the question, he said: “I don’t know.” […] If this is in doubt, it would need to be researched.”
Foot Mercato reports that Embolo has not made a departure from Monaco this summer a priority, despite recently changing agents, while Bayern Munich are yet to make an bid for the striker, with the Principality reportedly unwilling to sell the forward.
