The FA have confirmed they are already working on appointing a new manager, with Law reportedly interested in taking the role vacant after Southgate’s resignation.
Former Germany manager Joachim Loew is reportedly interested in taking on the vacant England post.
The 64-year-old Loew led his country to victory in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and coached the national team for 15 years.
According to The Sun, he is said to be willing to hold talks with the FA following Gareth Southgate’s resignation.
This comes after it was reported that Ange Postecoglou is on the list of candidates being considered by the FA to become the next England manager.
A number of candidates have been mentioned so far as possible for the England manager position, including Eddie Howe, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Jurgen Klopp.
Joachim Löw’s last game in charge of Germany was against England at Euro 2020 and he is now interested in replacing the resigned Gareth Southgate, who resigned after England’s defeat to Spain in Sunday’s Euros final. Löw has not been in charge for three years but is keen to return to the touchline.
However, it is understood that neither Tuchel nor Klopp are realistic prospects at this stage.
Löw’s final game as Germany coach before stepping down was a 2-0 defeat to Southgate’s England in the last 16 of Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium. The former Stuttgart and Fenerbahce boss has not taken up a managerial role since.
England Under-21 head coach Lee Carsley is reportedly the favourite to replace Gareth Southgate as caretaker manager.
According to The Sun, the former Everton man is likely to take charge of England in their next international match against the Republic of Ireland in eight weeks’ time.
The FA are expected to emulate the appointment of Southgate, who was promoted to the interim England manager role from his role as Under-21 coach in 2016.
FA bosses have confirmed they are considering appointing a new manager but feel that 50-year-old Carsley is the best-suited person to take over England’s next game.
