The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has stated that it does not own a visa application website that some have said is fake.
He said Nigeria’s visa ban will be lifted after Kontori and will be applicable from July 15, 2024.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security told BBC News Pidgin that anyone wanting to apply for a visa must go through a travel agency office.
“Regarding visa requirements and fees, if you are applying for a single or multiple entry tourist visa, you can apply through a travel agent’s office.”
If I need a visa from Dubai I was told to contact the Dubai Residency and Foreigners Office.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris announced the lifting of the visa ban.
The UAE has announced that it will stop issuing visas to Nigerians in two years.
“Successful meetings and extensive, mutually beneficial negotiations between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have resulted in an agreement to allow Nigerian passport holders to resume travel to the United Arab Emirates.”
“The agreement includes updated controls and conditions to facilitate the acquisition of UAE visas,” a TOK statement said.
Meanwhile, Emirates will also resume services to Nigeria from October 1, 2024, with a daily flight between Lagos and Dubai.
Emirates Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said the airline was excited to resume services to Nigeria.
“The Lagos-Dubai flight has traditionally been popular with our Nigerian customers and we look forward to connecting leisure and business travellers back to Dubai and further to over 140 destinations.”
“We appreciate the Nigerian government’s cooperation and support in resuming this route and look forward to welcoming our passengers back on board,” Kazim said.
Why do Nigerians love going to the UAE?
There are various reasons why Nigerians go to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
One of the main attractions of tourism is that the UAE, particularly Dubai and Abu Dhabi, boasts world-class tourist attractions such as the Burj Khalifa, luxury shopping malls and Obonge Beach, attracting Nigerian tourists seeking leisure and adventure.
Business and trade also play a key role in this trend: the UAE’s strategic position as a global business hub with robust infrastructure and a favourable business environment makes it attractive to Nigerian entrepreneurs and investors.
Many Nigerians visit the UAE for trade fairs, business conferences and investment opportunities, contributing to growing economic ties between the two countries.
Education and employment prospects are also attracting Nigerians to the UAE, with quality universities and educational institutions attracting Nigerian students seeking advanced studies.
Furthermore, the UAE’s booming job market offers lucrative opportunities for skilled professionals, with many Nigerians seeking employment in sectors such as hospitality and healthcare.
