Deadline reports that actor Aaron Pierre, best known for his role in “Rebel Ridge,” has been cast as Jon Stewart in HBO’s highly anticipated series “Lanterns.”
The series is based on DC’s Green Lantern comic and stars Pierre as iconic Green Lantern John Stewart, alongside Kyle Chandler, who is in final talks to play Hal Jordan.
Deadline reports that Pierre secured the role of Jon Stewart after an extensive casting search, with him and Stephen James emerging as the frontrunners in the final stages.
Lantern follows the story of two intergalactic law officers, new recruit Stewart and veteran Lantern Jordan, as they investigate a murder mystery in America’s heartland.
The eight-episode series will be helmed by Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy, with Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) and comic book writer Tom King serving as co-writers and executive producers. serve. James Hawes directed the first two episodes and will also serve as executive producer.
