The Kentucky Wildcats hosted pro scouts from across the NBA on Monday night for their 10th Pro Day, giving a preview to their fan base and the college basketball world.
BBN will get our first real look at the Cats’ brand new roster as the Mark Pope era begins in Lexington. This week’s Pro Day and Big Blue Madness will provide fans with a short highlight of what this team will look like as the November 4th season tip-off quickly approaches.
With the Cats showing off their shooting, pace of play and focus on defense, it’s clear that a new era has arrived for British basketball. It’s clear that Coach Pope has implemented an offensive philosophy into his team and has the players to make it effective.
It’s definitely going to be a learning curve, even during an exhibition game. But one thing is for sure…it’s going to be a fun season.
So let’s take a look at their reactions to Cats Pro Day on Twitter.
Mark Pope runs all practice possessions with a 12-second shot clock.
I don’t think anyone is ready for how fast this team will play.

This Kentucky team doesn’t miss many shots.

Andrew Kerr may surprise a lot of people this season.

Travis Perry. After all, it is automatic from deep.
It’s crazy to witness that every time I see him.

Ka Kriisa commented in an interview with Dick Gabriel that “3 is worth more than 2.”
He, along with many of his teammates, will continue to live by that philosophy this season.

The 5-on-5 scrimmage begins…
*The blue team is Butler, Blair, Kerr, Garrison, and Perry.
*White team: Oweh, Kriisa, Robinson, Williams, Noah
Chandler/Almoner replaces Perry/Noah

Zachary Tow appears to be the new walk-on to commit to Kentucky during pro day.
He is vying for No. 20 and looks set to join Walker Horn and Grant Derbyshire as one of three walk-ons this season.

In live 5-on-5 action, Kentucky’s offense is structurally similar to what we saw at BYU last season. The five key players play together. interval. zoom action. movement of the ball.
At this level of movement, the defense is constantly under pressure.

It’s crazy to think of this graphic…
Appeared in a total of 845 games
Total 8,000 points
This is the most experienced Kentucky team ever in 122 seasons in program history. pic.twitter.com/MDnFzvUqYl

Andrew Carr’s ability to rebound and initiate breaks will really unlock some transition/secondary opportunities for Kentucky this season.
The way he moves as a 6-foot-11 forward is really special.

Kentucky basketball pro day is planned.
First and foremost, I enjoy watching them on the floor. Basketball is right around the corner!
It’s a fool’s errand to get anything real from an event like this, but one thing I can say is that I feel a little more encouraged…
