Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong has urged the business community to support the government’s plan to establish an entertainment complex in Thailand, insisting that Thailand aims to revive itself as the “Fifth Tiger of Asia”. I called out.
Sorawong, who also serves as secretary-general of the ruling Thailand Contribution Party, made the remarks at an event entitled “ASEAN Economic Outlook 2025: Rise of ASEAN, New Opportunities” held on Monday to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the founding of Krungthep Turakiji newspaper. I gave a lecture.
He said if successful, the administration’s entertainment complex plan would attract huge revenues from foreign investment in Thailand.
“I would love for the private sector to talk about this too, because when the political sector talks about this it hurts them. It is not true to say that entertainment complexes are just casinos,” the minister told the audience, apparently It seemed to hint at resistance to this plan from certain political sides.
Mr Sorawong added that support from the private sector will help the government implement this plan.
The latest development around recreation centers is that the Office for Fiscal Policy has concluded a public consultation and finalized a proposal that will be submitted to Cabinet for further consideration in the near future.
According to the government’s intention, casinos will be located inside facilities such as amusement parks, restaurants, bars, arcades, and department stores.
