CNN —
Two of the most popular TV shows set in Philadelphia are teaming up.
“Abbott Elementary” star and creator Quinta Brunson and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star and co-creator. Rob McElhenny shared the news on social media that they are both collaborating on a crossover episode.
“Season 4 of ‘Abbott Elementary’ is really going to be ‘Sunny’ :),” Branson wrote in the caption of a photo with McElhenney and his ‘Sunny’ co-star Charlie Day.
McElhenney posted a photo on his Instagram Story of the trio outside the Abbott school set, along with Sonny’s Danny DeVito, Abbott’s Tyler James Williams, and William Stanford Davis. I shared it.
Both comedies lean toward the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania setting.
Back in February, McElhenny referenced “Abbott” while posing for a Willy Wonka immersion experience.
“A lot of people are saying this is like an episode of ‘Sunny,’ but to me it feels more like a crossover episode of @alwayssunny @AbbottElemABC,” he wrote on X at the time.
Branson captured the post on his screen and wrote, “Say the word @robmcelhenney. I love you guys.”
“Abbott” centers on an elementary school serving inner-city students, while “Sunny” follows a group of friends who run a dive bar in South Philadelphia.
No information regarding the plot or air date of the crossover episode has been announced.
