Competitor Ryan Manton continues to reign supreme on Jeopardy! The three-day champion continued his winning streak in a match against Adam Stewart and Emily Stowell-Buie on October 3rd.
Ryan, a system coordinator from Columbus, Ohio, has been pretty consistent in his wins since his first match, averaging more than $20,000 per game so far, but he hasn’t made as much in his latest match, winning just $15,800. There wasn’t. Still, the final round was a runaway game for Ryan, who didn’t bet any money, with Emily being disqualified for minus $400 and Ryan not being threatened by Adam’s $2,000.
Ryan had a decent finish, but he wasn’t the strongest to begin with, with Adam leading in the first round with $5,600 to Ryan’s $5,400 and Emily’s -$800. At the end of Double Jeopardy!, Ryan had secured the lead thanks to Adam’s loss at Daily Doubles in the second round of the tournament.
Ryan and Adam both provided correct answers on Final Jeopardy. In the category “19th Century Games” it was written that “an autopsy after his death in Vienna in 1827 showed atrophy of the auditory nerve.” The exact answer was, “Who is Ludwig van Beethoven?” In the end, Ryan earned a total of $83,179 in four days.
Can he keep it up long enough to make it five straight to the Tournament of Champions? Ryan is the newest competitor in the new season with a strong and long-lasting game. However, only time will tell for sure. In the meantime, while we wait for the results, weigh in on Ryan’s chances of making it to the Tournament of Champions in the comments section below, and don’t miss his latest match on Friday, October 4th.
