An Arab diplomatic delegation led by Jamal Al Musharraf, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, met with senior officials from the United Nations and international organizations involved in humanitarian, relief and health issues.
The two leaders discussed recent developments in Lebanon, explored ways to address the impact of the ongoing military escalation, and emphasized the urgent need to activate a humanitarian response plan.
In his capacity as head of an Arab organization, Al Musharraf met with Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, along with Arab ambassadors in Geneva. Discussions focused on the urgent response needed to new crises and their impacts, such as the increasing influx of internally displaced persons and refugees.
The Arab group also met with World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who stressed the importance of quickly responding to the needs of the Lebanese people and ramping up humanitarian assistance and medical supplies.
Mr. Al Musharraf and the Arab ambassadors also met with Mirjana Sporjaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and emphasized the need for international organizations, especially the ICRC, to play an active role at this critical time. emphasized. They also stressed the importance of complying with international law and international humanitarian law and ensuring the protection of civilians.
