The EA Sports College Football 25 update significantly improves the alignment between the in-game Shamcocks roster and the real-world Shamcocks roster. Players no longer need to unnecessarily change positions to make the depth chart fit a real-life roster, allowing for a more faithful representation of the team.
Position adjustments such as Tonka Hemingway moving from RE to DT and Nick Emanwoli moving from SS to FS reflect the defensive scheme that South Carolina runs and are a reality for fans and gamers alike. It increases the feeling.
However, there remains one notable oversight in the wide receiver room. Louisville transfer Ahamari Huggins-Bruce (AHB) is still on the Gamecocks’ in-game roster and has an 80 overall rating. He’s also wearing the wrong No. 1 jersey, which currently belongs to quarterback Robby Ashford, a transfer from Oregon State and Auburn. This may seem like a small thing, but it’s important to Shamcock fans who follow the team closely.
Additionally, Ashford did not receive an update after last weekend’s performance despite being the highest rated QB by PFF. The game inaccurately stated that Ashford only had one year of eligibility remaining, when in fact he had two years remaining and is expected to remain with the Gamecocks for both seasons.
These are small differences, but they illustrate the importance of accuracy in a game that seeks to faithfully represent a college football roster. Gamecock fans will be hoping for a fix in the next update.
