Inconcert Sierra and the Sierra Master Chorale will present their third annual “Sip and Song” at Pioneer Park on Saturday, October 12th from 3:00pm to 6:30pm.
Inconcert Sierra and the Sierra Master Chorale had to reschedule their original July Sip and Song dates due to extremely hot weather. Coincidentally, SMC’s spring concert was canceled in May due to the spread of the coronavirus and postponed to the following month, June 23, 2024.
“After dealing with such an unexpected obstacle, this group deserves a big community party. We sing, dance, and spend time with friends, family, and a supportive community.” We’re ready,” said SMC Music Director Alison Skinner.
The postponed October dates will shift the focus from a vibrant summer atmosphere to a fun fall festival, with an afternoon of music, dancing, raffles, community and more in support of the Sierra Master Chorale’s programming. It will be done.
Audience members can listen and dance to “Sons of Boogie” and “Than Again,” featuring members of the Sierra Master Chorale.
“Sons of Boogie” delivers a lively mix of rockin’ blues and your favorite nostalgic hits from the ’70s and ’80s. With smooth vocal harmonies and energetic stage production, their main goal is to get everyone up and dancing. Original members Dave McClellan (lead guitar) and Doug Morgan (bass), both former SMC singers, have been playing together since the late ’70s. In the early 90’s they were joined by powerhouse drummer Kevin Woolard. In 1997, they welcomed lead vocalist and harpist Steve Mendoza (SMC tenor and ICS board member) and guitarist John Liron.
“Then Again” features music from the late ’50s to early ’80s, including the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Carole King, Fleetwood Mac, Crosby Stills and Nash. The band includes SMC members Kathy Chastain (vocals, keyboards) and Steve Nicholson (vocals, bass guitar), as well as James May (vocals, guitar) and Ben Schley May (drums). With three-part vocal harmonies and classic tunes, they inject an infectious spirit of fun into their performances, encouraging audiences to dance and sing along.
Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a picnic lunch or dinner. However, alcohol is not allowed outdoors. In addition to fresh popcorn and treats from CoCo’s Lazy Dog Confectioners, you can also purchase draft beer from Grass Valley Brewery, kombucha from Gold Vibe Kombuchary, a selection of wines from Alta Sierra Wine Shop, and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages. .
