It’s certainly become almost an internal joke within UAE Team Emirates at this point. The Emirates team has enjoyed exceptional success throughout the 2024 season with the likes of Tadej Pogačar and most of its riders scoring victories. At this Wednesday’s Kuro Race, Juan Sebastian Molano became the 20th team rider to win a stage this year.
It’s actually amazing that in 2023 a Colombian rider won stages at the Vuelta a España, the UAE Tour, the Tour of Guangxi, etc. Although his quality wins at World Tour level did not allow him to reach the top of the sprinter rankings, the UAE trusted him as the team’s sole leader for the 2024 season. However, things didn’t go well this year, and I was finally able to get my first win in October. It happened during the second stage of the Black Race.
“I’m really happy to finally get my first win of the season. “I’ve been looking for this win for a long time, but it just didn’t work out,” Morano said in a press release issued by the team. It is expected to be submitted to the board of directors by the end of the year. ”
The 29-year-old took advantage of a chaotic sprint to get the right tires and was clearly fastest in the dash to the finish line, beating Porti Cometa’s Giovanni Ronaldi. Morano earned his team’s win number 76 this season, becoming the 20th rider on the 30-rider team to break the record this year.
Today, on the third day of the race, Morano has the chance to improve on this number even further with the stage finishing in the town of Opatija.
