The United Arab Emirates-based airline canceled and rerouted some flights as airspace was closed in several parts of the Middle East on Tuesday amid an uptick in regional flights.
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways confirmed to Khaleej Times that it will reroute a number of flights on Tuesday (October 1) and Wednesday (October 2) in response to airspace restrictions.
Etihad Airways also said the closure of airspace in Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon on Tuesday following Iranian missile attacks on Israel “could cause disruption and delays to a number of flights over the coming days.” “There is,” he warned.

“Etihad Airways flights only operate in approved airspace and safety is always our top priority and we will not operate unless it is safe,” the Abu Dhabi-based airline added. This is a developing situation and airlines are continuously monitoring security and airspace updates.”

Local airline flydubai has also rerouted and canceled some flights in response to ongoing events in the region.

Passengers connecting to these destinations will not be accepted for further travel, the airline said in a statement.

An Emirates spokesperson said some flights were canceled and some were diverted due to developments in the region.
“Following tonight’s airspace closure, Emirates has canceled some flights and diverted others. We are closely monitoring the situation and providing support to those affected. We are making every effort to minimize disruption to our customers,” the airline said in a statement to Khaleej Times.
