Paramount+ has announced that Jodie Turner-Smith will star as a series series regular alongside Jeffrey Wright and Michael Fassbender in the espionage political thriller The Agency.
Here’s the official explanation:
An all-new political thriller begins when Martian (Fassbender), a covert CIA operative, is ordered to abandon his undercover assignment and return to a London train station. The love he left behind reappears and romance is rekindled. His career, identity and mission come into conflict with his heart, and he becomes embroiled in a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.
Turner-Smith will play Sami Zahir, a social anthropology professor who has connections to the Martians.
“Jodie Turner-Smith has the ability to captivate audiences with the power of her raw emotion,” said Nina L. Diaz, president, content and chief creative officer, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks. “We’re thrilled that she will be joining this incredible cast of The Agency alongside Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere.”
The Agency is a remake of the French drama Le Bureau des Légendes (known internationally as The Bureau).
The Agency is executive produced by Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz for Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari for 101 Studios, George Clooney and Grant Heslov for Smokehouse Pictures, Alex Berger for TOP-The Originals Productions, Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton for Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America, and Fassbender.
Prior to its on-air debut, “The Agency” will debut on demand and streaming via Showtime’s plan, Paramount+.
Turner-Smith, best known for her role in the film Queen and Slim, is currently appearing in Disney+’s Star Wars: Acolyte.
