The Cincinnati Bengals needed a win against the Carolina Panthers to continue their season. The offense came into play and the defense stepped up in some key moments.
Take a look at Twitter’s reaction to the Bengals vs. Panthers game.
The game started quickly, with the Bengals stealing the ball from the goal-line stands at the 1-yard line and mounting a good drive that turned the field position battle around. Most of the drives are healthy again.
There was never any doubt that Bengals D knew to step up when it mattered.

After Tee said that, that guy put Tee on the bench…he’s gonna be so-and-so.
— (@BengalsCaptain) September 29, 2024
Mike Hilton and Joe Burrow both appeared injured early on, but neither of them missed much time.
Joe Burrow was stepped on and suffered major damage to his knee. There was a limp before they punted. Things to note.
— Hayden Winks (@HaydenWinks) September 29, 2024
Barrow is watching the Surface on the bench, but nothing seems out of the ordinary. Mike Hilton looks like he’s ready to play again here.
— Mike Petraglia (@Trags) September 29, 2024
Meanwhile, Mike Hilton returned to the game. It was a huge relief for him considering how bad it was at first.

Cam Taylor-Britt was great in 2023 and off to a strong start in 2024, but was hated on by Andy Dalton and the Panthers throughout the game.
The Bengals went 3rd long with a 3DL, 2LB package, sending both LBs on a twisting blitz, but it was easily picked up and Leggett beat CTB in man coverage behind it and got the first down.
Diontae Johnson once again got behind CTB and dropped a deep ball.
oh yeah.
— Jake Liscow (@JakeLiscow) September 29, 2024
Andy Dalton is playing old man ball. Ripping it deep, Diontae Johnson almost played again on a big play with Cam Taylor-Britt in coverage.
— Ben Baby (@Ben_Baby) September 29, 2024
Wide open on the 3rd and 11th.
CTB again.
you.
— Andrew Russell (@Andrew_Russell7) September 29, 2024
Trey Hendrickson didn’t have a big day on the report card, but an assist on the interception would have smacked Dalton’s hand and given Vonn Bell an easy catch for the interception to record the interception.
Trey Hendrickson hits Dalton’s throw and Vonn Bell pulls a pop-up for the pick.
Bell was shipped to Carolina this offseason, but there’s no doubt he’s enjoying the moment leading the Bengals to No. 16.
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) September 29, 2024
Trey Hendrickson saved another defensive drive. he’s a monster
— Mike (@bengals_sans) September 29, 2024
The Bengals eventually got the first points of the game on a run by Chase Brown, but the Panthers wasted no time in tying the game.
The Bengals favored an empty spread game earlier today, which led to a number of Tee Higgins targets. He caught five of Burrow’s seven targets and gained 38 of 41 yards.
— Jake Liscow (@JakeLiscow) September 29, 2024
This defense is so bad I don’t understand why Lue won’t even give Jordan Battle a shot. Especially since he looked great last year.
— Blake Jewell (@BlakeJewellNFL) September 29, 2024
Bengals 7, Panthers 7
A strong angle from Geno Stone landed Hubbard near the goal line and he finished one play later for a TD.
The Panthers gained 70 yards in 11 plays, including a 4-and-3 conversion.
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) September 29, 2024
Ja’Marr Chase had a great catch and run to get the Bengals back on their feet.
That’s why you pay for Chase without worrying about how many years you have left…
— Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) September 29, 2024
Walk to the sideline and give Jamar Chase the check now.
— Blake Jewell (@BlakeJewellNFL) September 29, 2024
CTB made a highlight-reel interception on an underthrow after being taken down deep, but grabbed Leggett on a double move and was called for a defensive hold for an automatic first down.
Then the Ducks lost their balance and Pratt missed a tackle, making it 2-3 for a short gain.
— Jake Liscow (@JakeLiscow) September 29, 2024
Don’t be fooled by the picks. Even if there is no holding call, if the ball is not underthrown, it is a touchdown.
CTB man
— Jay R (@JayRBP) September 29, 2024
Andrei Iosivas made a deep catch, but was hit hard on his way to the Bengals, who scored a touchdown just before halftime.
Zack Moss scored the TD, but man, if he hadn’t slipped and gotten up, and Nick Scott hadn’t slipped, it would have been a disaster.
I’ll run out of watches.
Either way, it was a 1-yard TD pass from Joe Burrow to Zack Moss, and in the end that’s all that matters.

The Panthers played 16 more plays than the Bengals in the first half, doubling the Bengals from 19:56 to 10:04 of possession time.
The Bengals can’t put their defense on the field that much.
— Matt Edwards (@MattEdwards) September 29, 2024
Now Chase Brown is in charge of everything. It looked like a duo at the goal line for a touchdown.
— Mike (@bengals_sans) September 29, 2024
The Panthers attempt a 4th down with a fake punt, but fail to convert thanks to a great play from Daijan Anthony.
Burrow’s draw play was heard on third and went very long for a first down, and the Bengals were pushed back another 10 yards with a holding penalty.
A brutal sequence.
— Jake Liscow (@JakeLiscow) September 29, 2024
Tuba Hubbard’s 38-yard run as the Panthers trailed by 17 points and had two consecutive drives halted.
Not a good representative for anyone
— Jake Liscow (@JakeLiscow) September 29, 2024
Trey Hendrickson ended up getting injured and didn’t return, so the Bengals will have to hope it’s not a big deal if he misses playing time. Burrow also made an interception in field goal range in a scramble drill.
Joe Burrow escapes from the pressure again, but this time his toss downfield ends up being picked off by Xavier Woods.
Burrow made a poor decision with the Bengals in field goal range, forcing the defense to back away with a 10-point lead with 11 minutes, 28 seconds left.
Joe Burrow gets out…
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) September 29, 2024
At a key point in the game, the Bengals forced a three-and-out without Trey Hendrickson. In the end, they made a field goal to extend their lead and win.
great stop for #Bengals defense. Cam Taylor-Britt should have made an interception there, but lost his footing. This defense needed it anyway. Now it’s up to Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense to finish the game.
— James Rapien (@JamesRapien) September 29, 2024
Andy Dalton maintained his completion and INT rates by ending the game out of bounds.
Bengals earn coveted W
The offense was effective for the majority of the game, but was dismal in all areas other than closing out games.
D desperately needs Hill, Rankins, Murphy
— Andre Perrotta (@andreperrotta13) September 29, 2024
FWIW: In NFL history, only one team has started the season 1-3 and won the Super Bowl.
2001 New England Patriots.
(I’ll calm down and talk about postseason stuff. I promise.)
— Matt Edwards (@MattEdwards) September 29, 2024
We spent the week listening to the playoff odds for teams that are 0-3. Let’s take a look at the odds of 1-3.

Today marks the fourth time Burrow has not been sacked in a game, and the first time since Week 3 of 2021.
