(St. Joseph, MO) Bluegrass Battle Hunger, a free event supporting Second Harvest Community Food Bank, will be held again in downtown St. Joseph on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th, 2024.
Bluegrass Battles Hunger 2024 is a two-day event featuring live bluegrass music, dancing, and food vendors at Coleman Hawkins Park in downtown St. Joseph, Missouri.
Participants on Friday and Saturday are encouraged to bring food or cash donations to the event in lieu of admission fees.
The event began on Friday, September 27th at 6pm with a performance by Beth and Brandon. Depew and Morris followed at 7 p.m., followed by the final performance by the Boxcar Brethren at 8 p.m.
The festival returns on Saturday, September 28th at 4pm with the St. Joseph Arts Academy Showcase, a performance by Natalie Prowser at 5pm, Rural Grit All Stars at 6pm, and Cameron Keeling at 7pm. and Runaway Train performed a show. The stage and final performance begins at 8 p.m., with True North closing out the event.
Food stalls lined the venue during the event, offering delicious snacks to attendees.
Sean Eubank, the event’s booker, said the camaraderie between the bands, who help raise money for food banks, was unique.
“We’ve been very inclusive with the bands. Sometimes we like to mix and match between bands, especially if they happen to meet and know each other, and, you know, there are It’s like a mashup of seeds.” It’s over,” Eubank said.
