AJ Brown returns to practice, listed as questionable for Sunday originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
There was a pleasant surprise when Eagles practice began Friday afternoon at the NovaCare Complex.
AJ Brown is back.
The Eagles’ star receiver has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury and has not practiced since suffering the injury during practice on Sept. 13. It would obviously be a huge boost for the Eagles offense if Brown could compete. Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday afternoon.
Brown, who was limited Friday, is officially listed as questionable for the Bucks game.
Here is the full report:
Sent off: DeVonta Smith (concussion)
Questionable: AJ Brown (hamstring), Lane Johnson (concussion).
Early in Friday’s practice, Brown wore a helmet to stretch his hamstring.
Other good injury news on Friday was that Lane Johnson (concussion) appears to be transitioning according to NFL concussion protocols. Johnson suffered a concussion in the first half Sunday in New Orleans and missed the first two days of the week, but was wearing a helmet at the start of Friday’s session. Officially, there were limited participants, but this is also questionable. Johnson must clear the NFL’s concussion protocol before he can play.
On Thursday, Johnson participated in practice without a helmet and performed several phantom reps during offensive line practice.
There’s an argument that Brown and Johnson are two of the most important non-quarterbacks on the Eagles’ roster. So either or both of them going to Tampa would be great for the Eagles.
Brown and Johnson participated in Friday’s practice, but DeVonta Smith (concussion) did not practice. Smith suffered a concussion in the second half of the game against the Saints and missed an entire week of practice. He was officially ruled out.
Other players on the injury report this week: Milton Williams (groin), Landon Dickerson (wrist) and Darius Slay (knee) were all full participants in Friday’s practice. Williams was added to Thursday’s report as a limited participant, which usually means the injury occurred during practice. It was a good sign that he was on the field Friday afternoon. All of these players are expected to play.
