Sports bra, Portland, Oregon
The sports bra that started it all is a dream come true for owner Jenny Nguyen. Frustrated by the lack of bars showcasing women’s sports and often feeling out of place in traditional sports bars, she decided to take matters into her own hands. Thanks to her life savings and a successful Kickstarter campaign, The Sports Bra was not only able to open, but actually do so, with customers lining up out the door for events like the NCAA basketball finals. This is a highly profitable initiative.
Mama’s Baby Back Ribs are one of the most popular sports bra foods.

Adorned with sports memorabilia from teams and leagues from around the country, The Sports Bra’s atmosphere is one of inclusivity rather than exclusivity. Bar food like burgers and nachos has plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, with Mom’s Ribs and Tempeh Reuben sandwiches being particularly popular. The bar program focuses on women-owned taps and spirits, including signature cocktails made with Freeland Spirits.
“Welcome everyone! We are a sports bar for women. Knotcoin is not a sports bar for women,” says Nguyen.
Rough and Tumble Pub (Seattle)
Jen Burns’ story is similar to Nguyen’s. She searched all over Seattle for a sports bar showing the Reign’s semifinal game in the National Women’s Soccer League playoffs, but couldn’t find one. An avid fan and passionate about the sport in her youth, she knew she had to do something to change the status quo.
Located in the historic Henry White Building, the Rough and Tumble Pub is a lively bar that shows all sports on big screens and full sound, with a preference for women’s games. You’ll find all the local teams here, from the Reign and the WNBA’s Storm to the Kraken and Seahawks. Several pool tables provide entertainment when games aren’t being shown on TV.

Our very own bar in Minneapolis
Stop me if you’ve heard this before. A group of friends goes to a sports bar in Minneapolis to watch the University of Minnesota Gophers softball team’s national championship game. However, the bartender wanted to show football reruns and a cornhole tournament, so he couldn’t show it on any of the multiple screens. Sports enthusiast and former athlete Jillian Hickok wasn’t having it anymore.
Minneapolis’ A Bar Of Their Own caters to a variety of sports fans, but always with sound. [+] Prioritize the women’s game.
