Online dating company Match Group has hired former Twitter (now X) general counsel Sean Edgett as chief legal officer and corporate secretary.
In her new role, Edgett will lead the legal team and direct functions across the company’s portfolio of brands, including Tinder, Hinge, Match, OkCupid and PlentyOfFish, and will report to Match Group CEO Bernard Kim.
Mr. Edgett previously served as CLO and Corporate Secretary for UPSIDE Foods. Prior to joining a private food technology company, he spent over 10 years at Twitter, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and General Counsel from February 2018 to October 2022. During my time at the social media company, I held executive legal roles overseeing IPOs. , M&A, governance, employment, and intellectual property matters. He also served as executive director, overseeing public policy, trust and safety, and compliance.
Edgett served as NetApp’s legal director from October 2010 to August 2012, where he focused on legal matters related to mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, corporate finance, and public offerings.
Prior to moving in-house, he was a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins and a litigator at Akin Gump.
