UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with several US senators as part of his official visit to the US. The agenda for discussions included opportunities to advance UAE-US relations at various levels, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
Meeting separately with Senator Mark Warner, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Senator Markwayne Mullin, Senator Joni Ernst, Senator Tom Cotton and Senator John Thune, His Highness expressed his pleasure in meeting the senators, noting that the US Congress has always played a key role in strengthening ties between the UAE and the US.
His Highness stressed that the visit was undertaken in the context of a shared determination to advance bilateral cooperation and enhance relations to the mutual benefit of both countries, particularly in key areas such as economy, trade and investment, climate change action, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and sustainability.
He stressed that ties between the two countries are based on the strong foundations of trust, mutual respect and common interests, noting that the US remains a key ally of the UAE and a central tenet of its foreign policy for more than 50 years.
His Highness also noted the importance the UAE attaches to dialogue and consultation with the United States on Middle East issues, and recognized the important role the United States plays in upholding stability and peace in this strategically important region. He reaffirmed the UAE’s determination to counter extremism, violence and terrorism, and its willingness to cooperate with the United States to address these challenges.
His Highness reiterated the UAE’s unwavering support for the US commitment and efforts to end the war in Gaza, and the hope that Parliament will play a meaningful role in advancing these efforts.
