Uber partners with WeRide to roll out robotaxis in the UAE: details
Shares of Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) were slightly higher in pre-market trading on Wednesday.
The company today announced a partnership with self-driving technology company WeRide to integrate WeRide’s self-driving cars onto the Uber platform, starting in the United Arab Emirates.
This partnership prepares for the exciting launch of WeRide’s autonomous vehicle fleet operating through the Uber app in Abu Dhabi later this year. WeRide currently operates the largest robotaxi fleet in the UAE, and residents can access its robotaxi service through the TXAI app.
But the bold venture has no plans to expand to the US or China.

Additionally, in July 2023, WeRide received the UAE’s first and only national driverless vehicle license, allowing it to test and operate autonomous vehicles on public roads across the country.
Earlier this month, Uber inked a multi-year delivery partnership with Darden Restaurants, Inc., set to launch in Olive Garden in late 2024.
The deal will allow restaurant diners to order on-demand delivery through Darden’s restaurant channels, with delivery being handled by Uber Direct through Uber’s national delivery network.
