ABU DHABI – Jerome Beaumont, Director General of the Egmont Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Group, has underlined the UAE’s commitment to fighting financial crime by hosting the Asia Pacific Money Laundering Group (APG) Annual Meeting and Technical Assistance and Training Forum in Abu Dhabi in 2024.
Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the event, Beaumont noted that it would showcase the UAE’s national efforts in fighting money laundering and terrorist financing.
The UAE’s decision to host the APG conference, the first of its kind in the MENA region, underscores the country’s determination to make preventing financial crime a national priority.
He explained that the conference being held in the UAE for the first time in the MENA region was a clear signal that combating financial crimes was a national priority.
