In Bellingham, Washington, a recent class action lawsuit by the ACLU may impact how inmates across the country are treated for addiction. Following a settlement, the Whatcom County Jail now provides inmates suffering from opioid use disorder with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services. In Washington state, released prisoners are 13 times more likely to die by overdose than the rest of the American population. For inmates like Cordelia and Brooke, access to Suboxone has vastly improved their experience of detoxing in jail.

Ppl have hung themselves in the jail I was in because there was no help 4 withdrawal until he did that and then they decided to give Tylenol 3 and Klonopin. Which was the wrong thing to give people don't care about other people all they care about is money when she realized this things look a lot clearer everyone's on their own especially in jail
Nothing is ever these criminals' fault. "If i had gotten my suboxone i wouldnt be back in prison now." Unreal.
The thought of withdrawing in jail is terrifying to the point that I absconded for 4 years because the thought of spending 24 hours in there was so terrifying
Anybody who thinks they're helping with Tylenol people withdrawing in jail really have no idea what they're talking about If they had to go through 20 minutes of bad withdrawal their entire outlook would change
Bad Case of the flu if onlyโฆ.. So easy to tell who has been through this and who hasnโt. Nothing to be proud of, But the pain is indescribable, Both mentally and physically.
Worst thing in the world. Done it twice. The restless legs is the worse and the panic and fear of what is coming. Second time round is not as bad as you know what's coming. It's the devil's drug.
Iโve watched many documentaries and my understanding is they provide basic MINIMUMโฆโน๏ธ #Echoes
Hai, I am from the Malaysia, now I stop to drug, I take a metadhon, I take metadhon in hospital, I take a metadhon 15 years, drug addicts I stop,
Prayers to all the addicts out there ๐๐ป
The Prison Nurse is clueless, only concerned with money, saying they'll do it now because of law suites. Her own obvious addiction to other issues is out there for all to see & Im guessing she'll never care for anyone if she can't even care for herself. Prisons need fresh staff with fresh minds

You canโt detox in jail. Torture.
Makes me sick how if you get in trouble to take your medication away for addiction? Makes zero sense. On top of when they get out of jail they have a way higher rate of overdosing because theyโve been without the drug. None of it makes sense to me.
I was able to cure my herpes simplex virus with some herbal remedies I got from Dr Ozuka on YouTube
They don't even give u subs in laporte county jail ……so feel lucky
I'd take any sickness I've ever had over withdrawals….to compare it to a light flu is a total joke …. its like living death ….if I had enemies I wouldn't wish withdrawals upon them
God bless, those of you who want to help. Everyone else wants us dead.
With stipulations woman who are incarcerated should get automatic healthcare for the babies needs
Calling a substance use disorder a disability? Where's the logic?
Suboxone is not a magic pill. Suboxone is an opiate. You're literally trading one for the other. It's more controlled and much safer. Suboxone withdrawal is no walk in the park. What percentage of people treated with Suboxone remain on Suboxone for the rest of their lives?
Oh no,no no no I could never do it. Somebody better get me out
Itโs NOT like a bad flu or food poisoningโฆ I really dislike those comparisons. That same woman says they treat symptoms? Imodium? Jesus. Looks like she has a food addiction. I was addicted 5 years, got into treatment and am 7 years clean.
When they say itโs like the fluโฆkind of but not quite I mean maybe but the psychological side of withdrawal makes it what it is, I will take the flu without the psychological effects of withdrawal any day. The sheer anxiety, depression, feeling like you are going to crawl out of your skin, the crying, the lack of energy, the shame, regret, the cravings! I would have dreams about cereal bowls full of pills when I went cold turkey from prescription opiates daily for 14 years! Methadone pills was the last of what my doctor prescribed, a huge dose and Valium (yeah great mix I know) and I was on a high dose of both, and I ran out, I was so exhausted of constantly chasing more and more because I always ran out early from taking way more than prescribed, I said Iโm done. I called my doctor and he called me in a low dose of morphine and some blood pressure meds, I took 3 of the morphine pills on day 4 of withdrawal from methadone and Valium and then flushed them all. I was literally sick and depressed for well over a month, the doctor said methadone stores in fat cells so itโs harder to detox out of the body, it took at least 30 days before I felt any clarity. By 6 months out I had lost 60 pounds (I gained so much weight on methadone) and started seeing a counselor, and I never looked back, that was back in 2010. I did dream about the pills though for a while, the counselor helped me get over that weird connection to the addiction. Itโs a lifelong journey but itโs worth it
