The new live music and entertainment venue is likely to have a positive impact on a growing area of the Valley where nightlife options are limited.
The Bongiorno family, founders of Arizona home furnishings store chain Potato Barn, are moving forward with plans to build The Knox in southeast Mesa, a site that would be just north of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Mesa-based Streamline Corp., a vertically integrated group of three companies, will oversee the development and construction of The Knox through Streamline Development.
Plans were submitted to the city of Mesa earlier this week to begin the review process, and Streamline hopes to have them completed by January, with construction beginning in mid-2025. Construction would take 18 to 24 months, with the line expected to open in 2027.
The venue address will be 7224 E. Seaver Ave.
“This is an entertainment desert right now. … You have to travel 30 to 35 miles or more to see a concert. Now we’ll be able to attract music bands and comedy events in the southeast part of the valley,” said David Lizak, CEO of Streamline Inc. “The facility can also host corporate events and other intimate venues. All the seating is in a portable layout, and you can bring in dining tables for corporate use. We can also host weddings and dance events. It will be a multi-event center.”
