The premiere episode of “Survivor” Season 47 (also known as Season 40-20 by avid fans of the show) got off to a bang on Wednesday, as 18 new castaways descended on the beaches and jungles of Fiji for complex challenges involving mud and heavy puzzle pieces.
The first episode of the latest season of CBS’ long-running reality competition show saw contestants split into three tribes of six each: Tuk, Labo, and Gata. Following the challenge, in which Gata won camping gear, paranoia and tribal dynamics were already at a fever pitch, with some contestants struggling to find their place and others finding the “cautious advantage” they so desperately needed.
But in an episode of “Survivor,” only one tribe faced off against host Jeff Probst at tribal council, and only one player was voted out by his tribemates.

Who went home on ‘Survivor’ Season 47, Episode 1?
After Gata’s spectacular first win at the beginning of the episode, followed by a disappointing last place finish in the immunity challenge, the six-member tribe was faced with a tough choice: Who should go home?
The Gatta, wearing yellow buffs, is made up of Sierra Wright, Annika Darr, John Lovett, Ani Rueda and Sam Farren.
After becoming enraged during Rueda’s immunity challenge and undergoing medical treatment, the remaining Gata members decided to vote out Lovett, a former speechwriter for former President Barack Obama and host of Pod Save America.
Lovett may have made the episode titled “The Brilliantly Perfect Episode,” but his athleticism and strategy were viewed as flaws by the other members, and he received a majority of the tribe’s votes, eliminating his chances of winning $1 million.
