Many Liverpool fans were vocal about their unhappiness with the club’s performance during the summer transfer window, but links with new players could provide some early excitement heading into January.
CaughtOffside reporter Christian Falk said: “The same club are also interested in Xavi Simons and Liverpool have a manager who speaks the same language… so there are big opportunities for both clubs.”
“Historically, United and Liverpool have been interested in the player, but Manchester City are also in the race and he would fit perfectly into Pep Guardiola’s system.”

The interest in Xavi Simons may be exciting, as the attacking midfielder has always looked like a threat for the Netherlands at this summer’s Euros.
Add to this the fact that Virgil van Dijk once said (via BBC Sport) that “he’s a very talented player and has a lot to contribute,” and he’s sure our captain would approve.

The move certainly seems sensible in theory, with manager Arne Slott likely knowing the 21-year-old well from his time at Feyenoord.
The main questions will always centre around transfer fees, wages and whether we have the space for an attacking midfielder in our squad.
These will of course pose major hurdles as recruiters draw up a list of potential signings when the transfer window reopens in just over three months.
